Blue sky: stage 2

This is some progress on the Blue sky painting. I started adding detail to the middle building and right building. I tried to use two different techniques here. The middle building is build up by precise straight lines while the right one is free hand.

Basically I am not too happy with both of them. The first one is too tight and unnatural while the second one is way too loose and a bit messy. I clearly need to rework this and try something in the middle.

Blue sky: stage 1

My first painting. Some buildings with a bright light source in the back. I am not too happy with the tilted roof of the middle building but I think I am off to a decent start.

Let's begin.

Well, the description at the top of this page says it all. I always wanted to learn to paint in photoshop mainly because I love digital matte paintings so much. I am usually more into 3D (Maya and such) but the power of good texturing and good matte paintings can make cinema really come to life.

Since targets are good things I have decided to give myself 5 years to learn the ropes to a decent level. 5 years, you say? I think that is a realistic figure with the spare time I've got.

So on this blog I will show my paintings. Comments are welcome even if they are negative.
